The Catholic Illustrated - in support of the Transalpine Redemptorist Missioners - is a quarterly newspaper published by The Desert Will Flower Press, Apia, Samoa.
This newspaper claims, so to speak, to be but as a supporting lighthouse to that on the holy island of Papa Stronsay in the Orkney Islands, Scotland: the Motherhouse of the Transalpine Redemptorist Missioners. Their lighthouse is officially described by the Scottish Commissioners of Northern Lighthouses as a “minor light” — number 3706. Without pretensions, this newspaper is simply another minor lighthouse on an island in the Pacific, amidst the vast darkness of this world and its oceans.
The Catholic Illustrated is placed under the patronage of the Stella Maris, the Star of the Sea, depicted on the veil of the Mother of Perpetual Succour, and thus is it consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart as to a safe harbour: “My Heart shall be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”
The Desert Will Flower Press is a private press managed by a group of friends of the Order, who offer their services free-of-charge, and who render all purchases and subscriptions, etc, as donations to be made to the Transalpine Redemptorists. The press undertakes and publishes various traditional Catholic books, periodicals and other materials for the salvation of souls, particularly the most abandoned and those living in country places, in the Alphonsian spirit. It operates under the patronage of Maria, Rosa Mystica, Mater Ecclesia. The opinions contained within the pages of our publications seek to conform themselves integrally to Catholic Faith, but they remain always the opinions of this private press alone, and in no way claim to be those of the Transalpine Redemptorists, the Rector Major of the Order, or any other member unless explicitly otherwise stated.
